Discover the Power of Music Theory
Learn Music Theory From Scratch or Fill in the Gaps
Music theory is not rocket science.
Really, I promise.
Scales, intervals, standard notation, the circle of fifths, modes, chord construction, nashville numbers, even more scales…
You might wonder:
- What are the truly important things to learn?
- Which of these topics will actually help you in your everyday playing?
- And in what order should you learn them?
What makes things even more complicated is that many of the music theory resources out there are created by non-guitarists. These methods don't explain how everything works on your guitar.
All this is what inspired me to create this course:
Music Theory from Scratch:
a super practical method for guitar players
For music theory to be useful, you need to know how to use it. It’s got to be practical. That means its essential to understand how everything you learn relates to the fretboard and to your playing.
Now, contrary to what many non-guitarists think, the fretboard is actually a really useful tool to understand music theory. It provides a great visual representation of what’s going on. It almost feels like cheating.
So, this course will teach you the fundamental aspects of music theory AND how everything works on the fretboard.
By applying everything you learn to the fretboard, we’ll keep things practical and make things much easier to understand.
I’ll show you why music theory is absolutely awesome and how it can help you every time you pick up your guitar.
What format is the course in?
The course uses a mix of approaches to ensure you retain all the information.
I’ll introduce you to the concepts you need to know through simple animated explainer videos. They’re all short and sweet: you’ll learn one thing and then immediately practice it. So no information overload!
This is where you grab your guitar and do exercises that help you apply all the information to the fretboard (and remember it).
Interactive training tools
If you’ve studied with me before, you’ll know I like to use interactive training tools. They help you put everything you learn into practice and get feedback on how you’re doing. This course is no exception. For example, this chord analysis tool will help you make sense of how chords are constructed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Below are some questions you might have! Any other questions? Feel free to email me at any time at just(at)stringkick.com
I don't know anything about theory. Is this course right for me?
Yes, the course really starts from scratch! So as long as you've been playing for a couple of months, this is a great way to learn the fundamentals of music theory and how it applies to the fretboard.
I already know quite a bit about theory. Will this course be too easy?
I have quite a few students come in who've already studied a bit of theory or picked up a thing or two through watching YouTube videos etc. What they like about this method is that it fills in all the gaps in their knowledge and take a whole lot of things they 'kind of know' and make sure they fully understand it. Of course if you're not sure, feel free to email me: just (at) stringkick.com.
What if I don’t like the membership?
