Long description
StringKick Games is a guitar theory and fretboard trainer. It's a guitar teacher's lesson plan, disguised as a game. Players answer by playing their real guitar while the app listens, or by tapping the screen on the go. Four learning paths cover String Names, Note Names, Intervals and Chord Theory in over 300 bite-sized levels, taking players from zero to fretboard hero. On their journey, players meet the Roadie with the heart of a golden retriever, the numbers-obsessed Producer and the Rockstar, whose ego barely fits on your phone.
StringKick Games is made by Just Rijna, who has taught guitar for 22 years and run the StringKick academy since 2016. The app is built on his 90/10 Practice Rule: spend 10% of your time taking in new information and 90% practising it on your instrument. Since the games launched on the web in September 2025, players have answered over 1.5 million quiz questions. Those answers helped fine-tune the difficulty of every level: hard enough that beating it feels earned, but not so hard that players give up.
StringKick Games launches on iPhone, iPad and Android on 9 November 2026. Practice Mode is completely free: pick the strings, notes and intervals you want to drill, and practise as much as you like. The full learning paths are unlocked with a Game Pass.

What players say
“I've been playing off and on for over a decade but never spent time on actually learning. My fretboard fluency and hence overall playing have improved tremendously from day 1 playing these games.”
“I really enjoyed these games. They honestly helped me memorise the fretboard more than I thought myself capable of.”
“These games are a lot of fun and somehow addictive. Perfect to play when I'm on the bus. I've already learned so much about fretboard note positions in such a short amount of time.”
